Since May 19, 1998, the date of purchase by The Wirth Companies, millions of dollars have been spent to renovate the property to its original splendor. The Minneapolis Athletic Club and Hotel closed it doors on December 10th to begin the destruction that would lead to its rebirth. Scheduled to open early summer in the year 2000 the Grand Hotel Minneapolis opened its doors on July 23, 2000, with the official Grand Opening to be scheduled at a later date.
