The next president was Stan Bakke, vice-president at Dain Bosworth, Inc. His term launched the MAC Foundation with the purpose of reaching out to help young people and the organizations serving them.
Mike O’Toole, president of Michael E. O’Toole Enterprises, has presided over the 75th Anniversary Celebration, giving close attention to construction next to the clubhouse of the First Bank Place skyscraper, set for completion in 1991.
On March 7, 1913, the Minneapolis Athletic Club Articles of Incorporation established its purpose very clearly, “…to conduct a club or society for the purpose of providing refreshment, entertainment, exercise and social diversion of its members, and in general to promote the physical, intellectual and social welfare of its member.”
For three-quarters of a century, the Minneapolis Athletic Club and its exceptional leaders have provided a setting for members to get to know each other better. For each member to know every other is not possible, but each member has the chance to mingle and share the warmth of the clubhouse. Other members each of us knows best are those we have met in athletic and social activities. Most of us have come to know people we might otherwise never have met and formed deeper friendships with those we already knew. We look forward to the Centennial Celebration of the hearty relationships that provide the most positive force and greatest strength of the MAC—in the year 2015.
